Maryland
Alumni Come Full Circle with Wedding in Moxley Gardens
In
the spring of 1999, Tashica Price and Al-Wayne Morgan met
as classmates in Cumberland Hall, but it wasn’t until
a year and a half later that the pair connected as more than
friends. It was Tashica that mustered the confidence to tell
Al-Wayne how she felt about him on Homecoming 2000. Seven
years later, after careful planning and several secret meetings
with family members, Al-Wayne got down on one knee and proposed
in Virginia Beach, Virginia on their anniversary. The couple
married on August 8, 2008 in the Moxley Gardens at the Samuel
Riggs IV Alumni Center. “I’ve always loved the
number eight and thought 8.8.08 was such a cool date ... It
means ‘new beginnings’ and ‘infinity,”
says Tashica, of their wedding date. The couple attributes
part of the success of their relationship to Maryland. Rides
on the UMD Shuttle provided plenty of time for memorable conversations.
As a tribute to their memories on the Shuttle, the pair chartered
a UMD Shuttle for their big day and plan to ride in it after
the ceremony in the gardens to take pictures at the Maryland
“M.”
